The awareness that this will become a memory.

Permanence tends to be scary. The aspect of creating something that will be fossilized forever is daunting, and more often than not, the weight and pressure of that can detract from the core goal - to create, to express, to feel. In creating this project, we freed ourselves from those expectations, and simply put, we had fun making music.

When you stop trying to create what you think people want, you finally get to create for yourself. For ourselves.

I had the privilege of working with my friend Paul Claypool on these songs. He refreshingly warps and and crafts sounds like no other, and I truly believe that nobody can do what he can do. I am lucky to get to create with him.
